A Message From Restless Development CEO, Perry Maddox

Warm greetings of solidarity during this troubled time.

As our world faces a complex and challenging period, I want to share with you information on how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting Restless Development’s work.

First and foremost, the safety of everyone with whom we work will always be our number one priority.

Every decision we make in the coming weeks and months to adapt our operations and programmes will be based on the safety and wellbeing of our people – volunteers, community members, supporters and staff.

We have already made difficult decisions to suspend some of our programmes, to cancel events, and in some cases to begin to repatriate volunteers who are working outside their home countries. We haven’t made these decisions lightly and appreciate this may be disappointing for many of you who make our work possible, whether that’s fundraising, volunteering in communities or campaigning on important issues.

We are working extremely hard to limit the effects that these changes may have on the communities and people whom we serve. Our teams in all our hubs are working closely with communities to prepare for and adapt to any changes in our work, as well as to learn how best we can help communities to rise to this threat. Working together to confront this pandemic is essential.

Ongoing decisions about our work will be informed by the latest information from security and medical experts, as we work closely with expert partners to help shape our response. We continue to draw from guidance from the WHO and relevant national government guidance.

However you are involved in Restless Development, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your understanding and ongoing support for our work during this challenging time. As best we can we will keep you up to date with as much information as possible. Information on how to get in touch with Restless Development is further down this page.

As our values declare, “we are in it together.” Thank you for your support and patience as we adapt our work to keep our people safe.

Best wishes,

Perry Maddox, CEO, Restless Development.
