Terms and conditions: Writing Challenge

Read below for important information about the FT x Restless Development Writing Challenge. After reading this page, if you have any questions, please email writingchallenge@restlessdevelopment.org and make sure to write ‘Writing Challenge Question’ in the subject line.

Eligibility

To enter this challenge you must fall into one of the age categories outlined, and must only enter into the category that matches your age.

If you fall within category A or B, you must have a parent or guardian submit your entry on your behalf.

Entries will be accepted only via submissions to writingchallenge@restlessdevelopment.org. You can use the subject line to let us know which category you would like to enter. Please include your full name and the best way for us to reach you in your entry email.

We accept entries from individuals from anywhere in the world. Unfortunately we are only able to accept entries made online and all entries must be submitted in English.

Entries will be judged by five judges from the FT, Restless Development, and our challenge partners: Global Partnership for Education and Global Youth Mobilization. Entries will be judged based on originality, clarity and strong ideas to make a compelling argument.

Winning entries

Publication of winning entries is conditional on reaching the necessary quality as determined by the Financial Times editorial team. Some winning entries may be published as part of broader articles related to the topic.

Data protection

Your personal data will only be used in conjunction with the FT x Restless Development Writing Challenge unless otherwise agreed with you. Your submissions will be shared between the Financial Times and Restless Development and other members of the judging panel. Your data will be held by Restless Development and you will only be contacted by Restless Development to confirm receipt of your submission and if you are successful.

When you enter, you will be given the option to opt-in to receiving Restless Development’s newsletter if you’d like to be kept up to date with our work, opportunities to support youth power and events that you might be interested in.

If you have any questions, please email writingchallenge@restlessdevelopment.org and make sure to write ‘Writing Challenge Question’ in the subject line.
