On July 18, 2025, BAS Nepal, a Youth Advocacy Group from Kohalpur Municipality under the EU-funded GreenShift Project, organized a street drama at Bal Shiksha Secondary School in Kohalpur. The event aimed to educate students, teachers, and local residents about the environmental and health risks of plastic pollution and the urgent need for sustainable waste practices.
The drama, performed on the school premises, attracted an enthusiastic audience of over 100 people, including students, teachers, and community members. Through engaging storytelling, humor, and strong messaging, the performers highlighted how single-use plastics contribute to environmental degradation and what communities can do to reduce their plastic footprint.
“This initiative is a creative way of reaching people emotionally and intellectually,” said a teacher from the school. “It makes the message of plastic reduction more relatable and memorable.”
Alongside the performance, BAS Nepal distributed awareness flyers and facilitated a short interaction session, encouraging young people to take leadership in promoting greener lifestyles within their households and communities.
The event is part of the wider GreenShift Project, funded by the European Union and implemented by Restless Development Nepal in partnership with CREASION and Youth Innovation Lab. The project promotes a circular economy and plastic waste reduction through innovation, policy advocacy, and youth empowerment.
