Safer, more resilient communities — free from Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

Nyenyezi (Intanda Stars) is a 2024–2026 project implemented by Restless Development in Central Province, working in Ngabwe District, Kapiri Mposhi District and Luano District. With support from Kindernothilfe, the project strengthens GBV prevention and response while linking safety with climate resilience and green livelihood opportunities, especially for young women.

The change we want

A community becomes safer when violence is prevented early, when speaking up does not increase risk, and when survivors can access support that is consistent, confidential and humane. Nyenyezi supports that shift by strengthening local protection and response systems and by helping young people build the confidence and support networks they need to stay safe.

How we’re making it happen

Children aged 10–18 gain practical knowledge, life skills and trusted support systems that help them recognise harmful behaviour, understand their rights and seek help early. Out-of-school young people aged 19–25, particularly girls and young women, receive skills and support that strengthen independence and reduce vulnerability.

The project also connects safety with resilience by promoting climate-smart practices and green entrepreneurship. When young women can build safer livelihood options, they gain more choice, stability and bargaining power — all of which can reduce exposure to violence and increase the ability to act when something is wrong.

Who we work with

Change sticks when local systems work, not when campaigns end. Nyenyezi works with local authorities, traditional leaders and first responders so prevention is taken seriously and response is proactive rather than reactive. The focus is on clearer pathways for reporting and support, better coordination at community level, and more consistent follow-up that communities can trust.
