Annual Report 2022-23
At Restless Development, we believe in the collective power of young people to create a more just and equitable world. This past year, we have worked tirelessly to mobilize and support young people to become agents of change.
In Nepal, our primary focus has been addressing the urgent issue of climate change. Recognizing its disproportionate impact on young people, especially girls, we have dedicated our efforts to building resilient communities.
Our climate action initiatives have become central to our work in recent years. All of our programs are designed to empower young people to lead the way in shifting knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding climate change. Thanks to more than 3,000 dynamic young leaders and our local partners, we’ve been able to reach six out of Nepal’s seven provinces, overcoming challenges to make a lasting impact.

The year 2021 presented unique challenges due to the ongoing pandemic, yet it also highlighted the incredible resilience and adaptability of youth across Nepal.
In 2021, we powered through the situation, striving to promote youth leadership through collective action and engagement. This included connecting with partners globally through virtual engagements and events such as the Global Youth Entrepreneurship Summit celebrating International Youth Day, and online campaigns for International Women’s Day, International Day against Discrimination, and Pride Month. We also developed a substantial Youth-Led Research Report through virtual engagement, recording 1400 diary entries in Nepal and Indonesia to reflect the impacts of COVID-19 on youth livelihoods.
Our programs in 2021, like Youth Take the Lead (YTL) and the National Youth Engagement Network (NYEN), empowered young people to enhance their skills, become change agents, and contribute positively to Nepali society. Through initiatives like these, youth have led advocacy on crucial issues such as Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and Mental Health.

At Restless Development Nepal, we firmly believe that “Young People Can, Young People Do!” Our 2013-14 Nepal Country Report showcases a year where this notion was continually upheld by our dedicated team of young people. Recognizing that 40% of Nepal’s population is officially youth, we view this as a demographic dividend, channeling their restless energy into mainstream development.
n 2013-14, we strengthened our partnerships and expanded our reach, working closely with the Nepal Government, under the leadership of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS), to assist in implementing the National Youth Policy. We also continued to bolster the Ministry’s capacity in organizational development and supported the creation of Model Youth Information Centers, which have since been replicated in 15 new districts by the MOYS.
