Trayaksh’s Story

Trayaksh (He/Him) Youth Unicorn ( Youth Leader) at GCC-QUTWE

In the heart of Panipat, where tradition often defines identity, Trayaksh, a courageous young trans individual, began his journey of self-discovery. Growing up in Haryana, he felt different from a young age. While other girls donned dresses and adorned themselves with ribbons, Trayaksh gravitated towards shirts and pants, his hair clipped short, reflecting the boy he felt he truly was inside.

Despite his discomfort with societal expectations, he faced relentless scrutiny. “Why do you act like a boy? You’re a girl,” people said, their words heavy with misunderstanding. He became the butt of jokes, tagged with labels like “tomboy” and “weird.” The laughter echoed in the hallways of his school, a painful reminder of his struggle for acceptance. Questions rooted in ignorance about his identity pierced through his spirit: “You were born a girl; how can you marry a girl?” Those moments were the hardest, especially when puberty struck, changing his body and leaving him feeling like a stranger in his skin.

However, amidst the turmoil, Trayaksh found a glimmer of hope. A friend, showing understanding and compassion, offered insight into the queer experience. “It’s okay to be who you are,” they told him. “Your feelings are valid.” These simple words sparked a light within Trayaksh, igniting a fierce desire for self-acceptance. By 2022, he mustered the courage to share his truth with his family. Their initial reaction was bewildering, filled with disbelief. “What kind of new trend is this? This is nonsense,” they responded. But Trayaksh refused to be disheartened. With unwavering patience, he educated them about his identity, sharing articles, stories, and experiences. Slowly but surely, their hearts began to open. Today, Trayaksh is not just accepted; he is celebrated for who he is. He has embarked on his gender armation transition, stepping into a version of himself he had long dreamed of. With each passing day, he grows more comfortable and confident in his identity, channelling his energy into making a difference in the world. GCC-QUTWE has become a space for him to celebrate his identity and inspire him to bring change within the community.

Trayaksh’s journey is a testament to resilience, love, and the power of self-acceptance. It reflects not only his triumph but also serves as a beacon of hope for others navigating their path. His story inspires us all to embrace our identities and to support one another in the quest for authenticity. In a world that often demands conformity, Trayaksh stands as a vibrant reminder that true courage lies in being unapologetically oneself.
