The Global Girls Creating Change (G2C2) project is lighting up Madhesh Province with young women leading the charge against climate change. Our incredible Girl Champions from Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Siraha, and Saptari have been diving deep into the real-life impacts of climate change, especially how it impacts women and girls differently.
In November 2024, the champions turned their commitment into action. They conducted Key Informant Interviews with local officials and teachers, led Focus Group Discussions with schoolgirls and community members, and carried out comprehensive baseline surveys. Their work aims to capture the real-life impacts of climate change in their communities, with a focus on how it disproportionately affects women in patriarchal societies.
Through this fieldwork, I realized that many in our community don’t fully understand climate change or how deeply it affects their lives—especially women. It’s motivated me to raise awareness and push for change.

Data Validation Workshops: Turning Data into Action
To make sure their hard work translates into real change, the Girl Champions took part in Data Analysis and Validation Workshops in December.
On December 4-5, champions from Janakpurdham, Bardibas, Sakhuwanankarkatti, and Rajbiraj came together for a workshop with Restless Development Nepal and Life Nepal. Then, on December 7-8, champions from Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, and Parsa districts gathered for a similar session, organized by the Restless Development Nepal and Social Organisation District Coordination Committee, Parsa.
In these sessions, they didn’t just present data; they debated, refined, and learned how to turn their findings into something that could move mountains—or at least, policy.
Running those discussions in my community was tough but empowering. Now, I know how to make sure our data counts for real change.
