Youth Agency in Action: Shaping Inclusive Futures
Restless Development Zimbabwe’s 2025–2030 Country Strategy sets out a clear ambition: to strengthen youth power so that young people, especially young women, rural youth, and youth with disabilities, can lead inclusive, accountable, and just development in Zimbabwe. Anchored in Restless Development’s global youth‑led strategy, this document articulates how youth leadership, collective action, and systems influence will drive lasting change acrossgovernance, health, education, livelihoods, and climate change.
Over the next six years, Restless Development Zimbabwe will prioritise youth leadership, SRHR and gender justice, livelihoods and economic justice, and climate justice, underpinned by strong safeguarding, inclusion, partnerships, and learning. The organization will deepen its work with and through young people to shift power, influence institutions, and transform social norms.
Our Reach
In Zimbabwe, Restless Development works with and for young people aged 10–35, prioritising those most marginalised by poverty, gender inequality, disability, geography and exclusion from decision-making. Our programmes reach adolescent girls and young women, out-of-school and unemployed youth, young people with disabilities, and youth leaders, positioning young people not only as beneficiaries but as leaders and implementers of change. Delivery spans rural, peri-urban and urban communities and is anchored in youth-led approaches, partnerships with government and civil society, and strong community engagement. Besides working with direct participants, Restless Development Zimbabwe strengthens households, schools, community structures, and public systems, influencing policies, services, and social norms to improve education, health and rights, livelihoods, climate justice, and youth participation in governance at scale.
Our Identity: Restless Development Zimbabwe
Since 1985, Restless Development Zimbabwe has been working with young people in Zimbabwe toward youth-led development to ensure that their voices are heard in the decisions that affect their lives, bodies, health and wellbeing, livelihoods, and communities. We will unleash young people’s leadership to solve Zimbabwe’s challenges. Our values are grounded in inclusion, feminist leadership, accountability, safeguarding, and respect for human rights. Decision‑making power is intentionally shared with young people, ensuring that programmes respond to lived realities and remain legitimate, relevant, and sustainable. As part of the global Restless Development network, the Zimbabwe hub contributes national insight and leadership while aligning with international standards on safeguarding, financial accountability, monitoring, and learning.
