FUND FEMINIST FUTURES

FUND FEMINIST FUTURES calls on the UK Government to protect and advance gender equality.

Together we can #FundFeministFutures by:

  • Championing and advocating for gender equality at key global moments, ensuring that gender justice is prioritised in policy and action.
  • Investing a minimum of 20% of overall Official Development Assistance in initiatives that have gender equality as the principal objective (to be achieved in five years).
  • Investing in organisations that defend the rights of marginalised communities, notably (young) women’s rights organisations, and LGBTQIA+ rights organisations.

NO ROOTS NO GROWTH. FUND GRASSROOTS FEMINISM.

We are facing an unprecedented rise in anti-gender and anti-rights movements across the globe and right here in the UK. In a backdrop of funding cuts, increasing misogynistic rhetoric and the shrinking of civic spaces, we need to build collective power now more than ever.

As young people, we make up over half of the global population; yet we are not in leadership positions, we are left out of vital discussions around funding and policy and we are chronically underestimated. It is time that we stand together and turn our frustrations into opportunities, it is time we #FundFeministFutures!

Gender equality is not just a political issue, it is a global responsibility.

RESTLESS FOR CHANGE, RELENTLESS IN DEFENDING GENDER EQUALITY.

If you would like to join our youth-led movement of educating, supporting and championing feminists across the world, from right here in the UK, then please join our movement. We are looking for anybody based in the UK who is passionate about gender equality and ready to take part in various advocacy actions throughout the year.

Resources & News

UK Youth Polling Results

In June 2025, we commissioned More in Common to undertake polling on Young people in the UK to find out what they think about the UK’s recent policy shifts on Aid, the UK’s role on the global stage, and their attitudes about the role of Gender Equality within the UK’s Foreign Policy.

FF4D Toolkit

We want to make the FF4D process accessible and interesting to young leaders and wider civil society. We know that young people are most impacted by the financial decisions being made on the global stage, yet we have no formal engagement processes within FF4D. It is vital we make our toolkit as accessible, engaging and inclusive as we can to ensure we open the doors of a closed financial process.

FAQ’s

How does my involvement in the campaign work?

You can influence various parts of our campaign including focusing on policy, communications and/or events. We will keep in touch via email and Slack! Slack is an online communication platform where you can instant message with other young people in the campaign. You will be sent advocacy opportunities through both of these platforms. We will also be hosting various in-person events throughout the year too!

Will my costs be covered?

When attending events or joining in-person activities, we will always try to cover the costs of your travel, accommodation and food/drinks where possible, as well as any access needs. The role of Fund Feminist Futures campaign member is voluntary.

What is the time commitment?

There are none! You join our movement with no strings attached. You can dip in and out as you please and all requests for support or opportunities are entirely optional. You decide what you put into this campaign!

Can I help shape the campaign?

Absolutely! The main purpose of us making our campaign public is so we can include diverse ideas and thoughts into our actions. We want to hear from you and gather your feedback on how we can #BuildBoldFutures together. There is no hierarchy and we will be working in a truly feminist approach- so all ideas welcome.

Who else is involved?

We have a wide network of over 100 UK and global partners that we will be engaging in our advocacy, with the campaign being spearheaded by 10 UK Walkie Talkies. These are young leaders from across the UK who shape our advocacy strategy and have built this campaign! Fund Feminist Futures is part of Restless Development’s wider programme, Walking the Talk.

Do I need specific experience?

No! We want to ensure that people from all walks of life are involved in Fund Feminist Futures. You do not have to know about Official Development Assistance/Funding/Foreign Policy or anything technical. You will receive introductory training from our team to get you up to speed. We ultimately want people who are ready to take action on supporting gender equality and advancing our campaign goals. So whether you are a new grassroots campaigner or an experienced advocate, we welcome you to our campaign with open arms!

18-30 year olds are welcome to join our campaign. If you are outside of this age bracket but still eager to get involved, please email emilymcchrystal@restlessdevelopment.org so we can see what engagement we may be able to offer instead.
