The Shadow Curriculum and Assessment Review is a youth-led initiative designed to ensure that young people’s voices are heard and influence the future of education in England. Set up by students from Teach the Future and supported by Students Organising for Sustainability UK (SOS-UK), the Shadow Review is running in parallel to the UK Government’s official Curriculum and Assessment Review—mirroring its process but ensuring youth perspectives are at the forefront.
The review is being led by the Youth Shadow Panel, made up of 15–22-year-olds from across England (urban and rural), many of whom have faced barriers to education including neurodivergence, disability, and socioeconomic challenges.
“ As a neurodivergent young person, I am also passionate about improving the SEND system, pulling on my experiences as an AuDHD student to inform my activism. Championing young voices is at the heart of my work, and I am excited to work on the Shadow Review to continue this further.” – Liv Marshall (Lead Applicant)Â
