ABOUT RESTLESS DEVELOPMENT
We know young people have the power to solve the challenges we face in our world, but they are being sidelined. We are the agency that works with young people so they can lead in solving those challenges. Whether that means supporting communities to end child marriage or prevent HIV, we work with young people to change their lives and the lives of people in their communities. Our programmes are genuinely life-changing, but can’t do any of this without talented, creative individuals at every level of our organisation.
OUR APPROACH TO SAFEGUARDING
Restless Development considers the welfare and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults to be an organisational imperative with primacy over the success of programmes or strategic objectives. We recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and we expect all of our trustees, staff, volunteers and partners to ensure we protect the communities in which we operate from harm and abide by our Safeguarding Policy.
The Restless Development Zambia Board has a critical role in ensuring safeguarding systems are in place and effective. The Board is responsible for ensuring that those benefiting from, or working with the charity, are not harmed in any way through contact with it.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In all of our trustees we look for great interpersonal skills and a passion for international development and the role of young people in society. Beyond that, our Young Trustees bring their experience, views and opinions from a youthful perspective to complement our current board’s skill sets.
Our new Young Trustee will be a champion of our values and dynamic accountability. We are particularly looking for young people with ideas or expertise in one of the key priority areas set out above.
Applicants will have a commitment to youth leadership as well as youth development. We strongly welcome candidates who may have previously volunteered with Restless Development. We are looking for people with the right competencies and skills for the role, and who demonstrate the personal qualities consistent with our Values.
FIRST TIME AS A TRUSTEE?
We recognise that this may well be the first governance role for you, so you will have a buddy to turn to, an induction programme and a welcoming group of Trustees – including another young trustee – happy to help and support you.
