Muslim Northern Women (MNW) is a youth-led collective dedicated to challenging and dismantling Islamophobia, with a particular focus on the experiences of Muslim women and girls. The organisation is run by young women aged 16-23, all of whom have lived experience of the social injustices they seek to address. Through educational workshops, training, youth programmes, and campaigning, MNW works to combat harmful stereotypes, address anti-Muslim hate crime, and provide a supportive space for Muslim women to find empowerment and community. As the organisation transitions into a Community Interest Company (CIC), it remains committed to ensuring that at least 75% of its leadership and workforce are young people.

YGF funding supports the Muslim Girls Finding Power (MGFP) programme, a groundbreaking initiative designed by and for working-class Muslim girls. This programme addresses the lack of opportunities and support for young Muslim women, equipping them with the confidence, skills, and tools to become leaders and changemakers. The funding will cover key costs such as project management, a residential event, and media training. Additionally, MNW will conduct research on the programme’s impact to develop an MGFP report, which will provide crucial insights for youth organisations on how to effectively support and engage working-class Muslim girls. By expanding its reach and influence, MNW aims to create lasting change in the VCSE sector and empower more Muslim women and girls across Manchester and the North.
