In her introductory speech, Harriet Mwiinga, the Restless Development Zambia Country Director, stated that the thrust of the Restless Development Strategy was anchored on the power of young people who were at the forefront of informing and drafting the strategy
“Young people between the ages of 15 and 24 make up 28.8% of Zambia’s population while 40.5% are under 15, this is the era of peak youth. Never before has there been such a large population of young people ready and able to deliver change in their communities. This is a historic opportunity hence the theme for our new strategy "unleashing the power of young people"" she emphasized.
Harriet further took time to shed more light on the new strategic vision and strategic goals as set out by young people which included; Voice, Living, Sexual Rights and Leadership.
