Khan

Mulgrave Street Action Group (MSAG) is a youth-led community organisation in Toxteth, Liverpool, founded by Khan at just 14 years old. Seeing the stark inequality between his deprived neighborhood and more affluent areas, Khan set out to transform a fly-tipped wasteland into a thriving community garden—now known as UrbanScape. MSAG brings together volunteers of all ages to tackle environmental issues, promote community cohesion, and create a cleaner, safer, and healthier Liverpool 8.

The funding will be used to sustain and enhance UrbanScape by covering essential operational costs such as maintenance, waste disposal, and volunteer remuneration. It will also support two key projects:

  1. The Levelling Up Project – Improving UrbanScape with professional lighting for safety, cycle bars for accessibility, secure storage, professional gardening tools, a sustainable water system, and improved seating and signage.
  2. The Get Together Project – Hosting community markets within UrbanScape, providing local entrepreneurs with opportunities to earn income, promoting social interaction, and offering an alternative to fly-tipping through second-hand sales.

This funding will help MSAG continue its mission of transforming neglected spaces, supporting local entrepreneurship, and fostering a sense of community pride—turning a once-forgotten area into a lasting, positive community hub.
