The Restless Development Girl Power Initiative is aimed at generating a stronger evidence base for addressing the reduction of the increasing rates of teenage pregnancy, early marriage and gender based violence especially involving young girls in Western Province. Restless Development has implemented the Girl Power Initiative since October 2015, through this initiative; young adolescents have been empowered to make safe and rightful choices regarding their sexual and reproductive health as well as economic and social well-being. This ultimately resulting into reduced teenage pregnancy and delayed age of marriage for young girls, improved livelihood based knowledge, skills and life skills for young people, particularly those from marginalised and socially excluded groups.
The Girl Power Initiative is being implemented in 10 communities and 20 schools in Mongu district Western Province and contributes to Restless Development goal areas of Civic Participation, Livelihoods and Employment as well as Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRHR).
Restless Development Zambia would like to commission an End line assessment of our Girl Power Initiative. This assessment will assess the effectiveness of the initiative that has been implemented for the past one year in 10 communities and 20 schools of Mongu district in partnership with the local Government, National stakeholders and the Youth sector including traditional leadership in addressing the reduction of teenage pregnancy, early marriage and gender based violence involving adolescent girls.
