Youth Sector Support Programme (YSSP) combines two approaches: firstly shaping policy and practice and secondly building a strong youth sector.
In order to achieve this, we put in place a partnership with the Nepal Government, Ministry of Youth and Sport (MoYS). A memorandum of understanding was signed in 2011 with a minimum of a three year relationship with the aim of civic participation.
A major contribution to the success of this partnership was the establishment of a Restless Development support unit office within the MoYS. This unit support office included a Technical Assistant to assist the human resource of MoYS on their day to day activities as per their requirement.
One of the major components of the National Youth Policy 2010 (NYP) is to develop Youth Information Centres. The centres are currently run by the National Sports Council’s President under the umbrella of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Restless Development under YSSP project is working to strengthen five existing Youth Information Centres to provide young people in the selected districts with access to information, skills, opportunities and services through the Youth Information Centres.
The programmes success was highlighted through a number of achievements with the pinnacle been an 'Award for Leadership in Youth Sector'. This is the first ever award conferred by the Ministry to any INGO operating in Nepal.
Other achievements were projected through Restless Developments television program Restless Youth which helps promote the agency's work but more importantly offers another platform to engage with youth and has now ran its third series.
