“When young people are given enough capacity, support and trust, they are an unstoppable force for positive change.” Primrose Manyalo, Zimbabwe
We are living in a time of Peak Youth. Never before and never again will there be such a large generation of young people ready and able to deliver change in their communities. These young people will provide not just the leaders of tomorrow but the energy to bring change today.
Restless Development has recently launched an ambitious new Global Strategy. Responding to the Priorities of young people with a Model for transformative change, our strategy will pioneer both a new type of decentralised Agency locally driven, globally connected and responding to young people and a Youth Collective allowing thousands of local groups & organisations and millions of young people to lead change.
Cutting-edge, values-led and dynamic in our culture, we work out of ten global hubs to offer expertise, support and innovation for youth and partners around the globe. We are Restless. We are unleashing the power of youth to change our world. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual with plenty of potential to succeed in a global agency focussed on empowering young people to lead change and development.
As part of a VSO-led consortium, Restless Development is delivering the DFID-funded International Citizen Service (ICS) programme. ICS is a development programme that brings together young people from the UK and developing countries to volunteer in some of the poorest communities in Africa and Asia. Through ICS, young people will have positive development impact in host communities, develop personally, and become life-long active citizens.
Situated in the UK hub, this role sits within the ICS pre-departure team, which works to support young people in the UK aged 18-25 through the pre-departure phase of ICS. You’ll be leading a small team to inspire and support young people from a diverse range of backgrounds on their journey to active citizenship through ICS. This will include managing a team of 3 Volunteer Support Officers, who support volunteers to complete key logistical preparations prior to going on their placement overseas, including medical clearance, vaccinations, criminal record checks, and visas. You’ll also be ensuring all volunteers are receiving the appropriate support they need to learn and develop through the programme.
The successful candidate will have experience of coordinating a project or area of a programme, be extremely well-organised and excel in operations management. You’ll be a strong communicator with both volunteers and staff, and an innovative problem-solver with excellent attention to detail.
Please send your completed application form to firstname.lastname@example.org by 9am on Monday 23rd October 2017. Please note that we do not accept CV’s, resumes or covering letters.
