UK - Programme Officer

Closing date: 5pm on Wednesday 29th March 2017

Salary: £19,963 gross per annum

Location: London, UK

As part of a VSO-led consortium, Restless Development is delivering the DFID-funded International Citizen Service (ICS) programme. ICS is a development programme that brings together young people from the UK and developing countries to volunteer in some of the poorest communities in Africa and Asia. Through ICS, young people will have positive development impact in host communities, develop personally, and become life-long active citizens.

Situated in the UK hub, this role sits within the pre-departure team, which works to support young people in the UK aged 18-25 through the pre-departure phase of ICS. This includes the stages of assessment, logistical preparation and training before going on placements overseas. You’ll be a core member of our fast-paced and dedicated team, inspiring and supporting young people from a diverse range of backgrounds to begin their journey to active citizenship.

The focus of this role is split between volunteer assessment and providing administrative support to other areas of work within the pre-departure team.

You’ll be a key contact for ICS candidates in the UK, ensuring that young people have all the information they need in the lead-up to an assessment day. Alternating with the Assessment Coordinator, you will also lead and facilitate some of the assessment days themselves. In terms of administrative support to the team, you will be a key support mechanism in enabling the wider team to achieve their objectives, by booking travel, processing expenses and invoices, and ensuring databases are kept up-to-date.

You’ll be a strong communicator who is well-organised, has excellent administration skills, and a passion for working with young people, coordinating events, and group facilitation.

Please send a completed application form to by 5pm on Wednesday 29th March 2017. Please note that we do not accept CVs, resumes or covering letters.
