“When young people are given enough capacity, support and trust, they are an unstoppable force for positive change.” Primrose Manyalo, Zimbabwe
We are living in a time of Peak Youth. Never before and never again will there be such a large generation of young people ready and able to deliver change in their communities. These young people will provide not just the leaders of tomorrow but the energy to bring change today.
Restless Development is a global agency for youth-led development. We support young people to demand and deliver a just and sustainable world for all. This global agency is run out of ten strategic hubs in ten countries across Africa, Asia and in the UK and USA, with a wider network of partners across the world. We work to make sure young people have a voice, living, sexual rights, and are leaders in preventing and solving the world’s challenges.
From global platforms such as the ECOSOC Youth Forum, UN High Level Political Forum and the UN General Assembly, to emerging regional spaces such as the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, Evidence-based Policies on Youth Development in Asia Forum, and Youth at the Heart of Leading the SDGs regional forum in Bangkok, we have been showcasing the power of youth through our global Youth Power Campaign, ensuring that young people are face-to-face with decision-makers and advocating for change. In the coming months, we’ll be stepping up our youth advocacy and influencing work even more - we’ll need a dynamic advocate who can help to position us to make the most of these opportunities.
The Global Advocacy Manager will play a key role in determining where we now take our global advocacy work, and how we work with our country hubs around regional and national policy-making on issues including livelihoods, sexual rights, humanitarian response and the monitoring and accountability of the Global Goals.
The Global Advocacy Manager will support the development of emerging policy and advocacy across the organisation, coordinate specific influencing opportunities and ensure a coherent approach for policy and advocacy through key networks and coalitions. The Manager will also work closely with the advocacy staff in our New York office, in particular our newly appointed Gender Advocacy Manager, in our Africa and Asia country offices, and our Campaigns and Communications teams to link global advocacy and policy-making with our campaigns around key youth development priorities.
