Young people share a restless determination to address the problems that affect them the most. That’s where we come in. At Restless Development, we’re proud to be the banner carrier for youth-led development, demonstrating from the grassroots to the global policy levels that young people can and must play a lead role in development.
Restless Development South Africa is a locally registered South African NPO, affiliated to Restless Development International through a license agreement.
Since 1997, we have been growing, adapting and responding to the most urgent issues facing young South Africans. Through our innovative operations based in the Eastern Cape, we have been engaging and supporting young people from the most under-resourced and marginalised rural communities to address the major challenges preventing them from leading healthy, productive lives – including unemployment, HIV and AIDS and sexual and gender based violence. We have built up a strong reputation for building the capacity of young people to undertake and lead development initiatives across the Province. We have demonstrated that young people are a positive asset and can contribute to real progress towards national and global development targets if they are provided with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities, to enable them to do so.
The purpose of the Restless Development South Africa Board of Trustees is to provide expert advice, support and guidance to the Country Director (CD) and to the Restless Development International Trustees, normally via the Chief Executive, on the implementation of Restless Development programmes in South Africa.
The Restless Development South Africa Board of Trustees oversees the governance of the organisation. The Trustees work closely with the Country Director and Management Committee of Restless Development to achieve its goals. They meet quarterly to review the organisation’s performance in terms of programme implementation, people and performance management, financial management, fundraising, donor reporting, and the overall strategy and direction of the organisation. Restless Development South Africa’s Board of Trustees currently has 4 members, each with an area of technical expertise: Chairperson, Finance, Legal, and NGO Programmes & Management. Restless Development South Africa is recruiting for two Youth Board Members. Their membership of the Board will be for a fixed 2-year term.
Please send your CV and a letter of motivation to email@example.com by Wednesday 7th June 2017. You should describe how your skills and experience align with the role description, and how you will add value to our Board of Trustees.
