In Tanzania the youth population (14 - 25 years old) almost doubled from 4.4 million in 1990 to 8.1 million in 2010, meaning young people make up a crucial voting demographic. To find out the priorities of this young, crucial voting demographic, Restless Development conducted a survey of a total of 276,300 young Tanzanians through interviews, questionnaires and social media across the country before the 2015 elections, to find out what issues they care most about.

In January 2017, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Denmark launched a new strategy for Denmark’s development cooperation and humanitarian action: ‘The World 2030’, with youth as a key focus area of the strategy. The MFA commissioned a review of Denmark’s youth-related engagements, which has resulted in 19 recommendations demonstrating how young people can lead the implementation and vision for Denmark’s development cooperation and humanitarian action up to 2030.
Young People and Governance in a Post-2015 World. Released in September 2014 in partnership with the Overseas Development Institute and Plan UK. This report demonstrates how youth participation, at all levels of decision making, builds good governance structures. It explores the opportunities and the barriers that exist for young people engaging in governance processes and supports a standalone on goal on governance in the post-2015 development agenda, with the role of young people clearly defined as part of this goal.
Launched January 2016, with support from the Commonwealth Secretariat. There is a lot of rhetoric around harnessing citizens' formal review and accountability processes, but few practical suggestions on what this could look like on a long term and sustained basis. This report assesses the options for the role of young people in accountability processes, learning from their experiences of formal and informal accountability mechanisms to date.
Youth Voices on a Post-2015 World is the result of youth consultations that were run in 12 countries globally to understand young people’s views on what should come after the Millennium Development Goals. 2014.
IMPLICATIONS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY IN THE POST-2015 FRAMEWORK. This report investigates the availability and quality of data on young people in Ghana, to be used for the development of youth policies. It was released in May 2015 in partnership with Youth Empowerment Synergy (YES-Ghana) following an audit of key Ghanaian institutions. The report includes recommendations for effective monitoring and accountability of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The ‘From Rhetoric to Action’ report, led by 18 Global Young Researchers from 5 regions of the world and launched as part of the Case 4 Space initiative, investigates and analyses current conditions for child and youth development and presents considerations for future action on the cusp of a new era in global development.
