International Youth Day is this Saturday (12th August 2017) and it's a chance to celebrate #YouthPower around the world.

To mark the day young people and youth organisations will hold events and take action around the world, including a sports tournament, concert, and youth talks.

On the day, we’ll invite you to join the Youth Collective, a growing movement of people and organisations committed to young people leading change around the world.

As well as joining the collective, you can get involved with our events across the world.

Here are just a few of the things happening to celebrate International Youth Day.

Nepal

Ever tried futsal? The sport is a variation of association football played on a hard court. We held a tournament to celebrate IYD this week, with 15 youth agencies and Restless Development Nepal competing for a trophy. Well done to the team for winning!

UK

In London, we’re holding an event to help young people break the echo chambers created by social media algorithms. Through an interactive exhibition and quick-fire talks from young activists, we will discuss the major issues in British society and how we can reach beyond those who agree with us.

Sign up for the event here.

Zimbabwe

In Harare, we will be hosting an entrepreneurship, investment and careers fair. We’ll be giving young people a platform to pitch their business ideas to an expert from the industry, with one person walking away with seed capital and a mentor to assist them in making their idea a reality.

India

In Bihar, India, we will hold a meeting with young changemakers and decision makers to close the 'Make Period Normal' program, sharing key learnings and mapping next steps.

Tune in online by following #YouthPower and #YouthDay.

We are the Youth Collective. If you believe in the power of young people, join our movement.
