On Wednesday 24th October, Restless Development and KPMG won the Charity Times Award 2014 for Corporate Social Responsibility Project of the Year 2014, celebrating the BRIGHT programme and our wider partnership.
As part of a five year partnership, 2014 saw sixteen KPMG professionals complete two-week technical placements at Restless Development offices in Nepal, Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda and Zambia as part of the BRIGHT programme. The volunteers provided invaluable support in areas such as Leadership Development, Private Sector Engagement, Financial Literacy and Livelihood Advisory.
By providing free support across the global organisation, KPMG have built the capacity of Restless Development staff, enabling us to efficiently deliver against our ambitious business plan. In return, the pro bono placements have provided international exposure and invaluable professional development opportunities for KPMG staff.
“We now have clear IT policies, alumni and monitoring and evaluation databases, a core competency framework, a communications plan and received financial training during our internal annual budgeting workshop – shining examples of the skilled individuals which KPMG employs.”
Tom Cadogan, Restless Development Zambia
“The whole experience was fantastic! It has really helped me understand more about international development and enabled me to use my skills to help. It also challenged me to think differently about my own leadership approach”.
We’d like to send a huge thank you to our partners KPMG and their fantastic staff who volunteered as part of the BRIGHT programme in 2014.
