On 5th Novemember we hosted an event as part of our ‘Mabinti Tushike Hatamu or Girls, let’s Be Leaders!’ programme.
We hosted the community event in Mbagala, Temeke, Tanzania where the event raised awareness on girl’s rights in order to reduce their vulnerability to girls based violence, teenage pregnancy, early marriage, HIV/AIDS and increase girls rights to education.
The girls composed a play, song, poem and dance to pass on their messages to the community. Through these actives, the girls engaged their community on issues affecting them and helped to sensitize the community to these important issues.
We also partnered with Marie Stopes in Temeke to conduct free HIV testing for the girls and to the wider community.
