31 Jul 13

On 5th July 2013 we celebrated our Global Values Day. As part of the celebrations, 11 Values Champions were selected as shining examples of staff who live our values day in, day out. Fanta is July's Values Champion, and the first profile to be shared.

Restless Development (Sierra Leone)

Fanta Daboh

Her Restless Story

Fanta joined Restless Development in 2007 as a Volunteer Peer Educator working on Sexual Reproductive Health. After she finished her volunteering, Fanta held three programme roles in Sierra Leone’s innovative programme as it diversified its strategic approaches: Outreach Drama Intern leading exciting, non-formal education events with a range of urban audiences; Field Officer on the Youth Leadership and Advocacy Programme; and Field Officer on the Business Development Services programme. Following these roles, Fanta shifted into the Finance unit, taking up roles as Assistance Finance and Administration Coordinator in the Easter region and now Freetown-based Assistant Finance & Accountability Coordinator driving efficiency, value for money and finance systems across our agency in Sierra Leone.

Which of Our Values Speaks the Most to You?

“All our values speak to me. One special thing about our values is that that they are linked. But the one that speak most is the Heart. My profession, growth within the organization, working in a team all comes from the passion that I have for my job. It is the passion that is driving me to be always restless in whatever I’m doing within the organization”

What’s your favorite part of Restless Development?

“Restless Development doesn’t write books but we write in the minds of young people by giving them the opportunity to learn and grow…the way we interact with young people irrespective of their status or background is another thing that I appreciate.”

If you could say one thing to your colleagues across Restless Development, what would it be?

"Let us keep the spirit and passion we have for young people, with young people we will surely change the world to a better place.”

“The trust Restless Development has in young people is special to me. While others are seeing young people as unproductive or incapable , Restless Development is seeing them to be the opposite. We believe that young people are capable and productive, that they can and are leaders of today.”
