Ministry of Youth and Sports

We are so excited to announce that the Government of Nepal has formally invited Restless Development to set up an office inside the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS). This is a rare honour conferred to Restless Development as it is the first organisation in Nepalese history to get this privilege by the Ministry.  It is a fantastic opportunity for us to strengthen our existing working relationship with the Ministry and also to improve our recognition national. Most importantly it builds up our ability to fight for the rights of young people in Nepal.

In the official letter issued by the Ministry it praised Restless Development for its work in building the capacity of the Ministry’s officers, its role in managing International Youth Day 2012, and for on-going support in establishing 5 Model Youth Information Centres across the country.

Restless Development and MOYS began their working partnership on the 30 September 2011 by forging a formal MoU.  Together, we have worked to implement the National Youth Policy; build the capacity of the Ministry as well as youth led CSOs; and establish Model Youth Information Centres.  The MoU between Restless Development and the Ministry also covers the formation of National Youth Support Groups, joint initiatives in media and publicity, livelihoods research and M&E support.

Restless Development will be sending an officer and a Technical Assistant to stay at the Ministry. Their work will be to provide managerial support and technical assistance.  Through this new office, Restless Development will have access to regular interaction and working relationships with the highest level of staff including the honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, and her Secretary who is our Steering Committee Member.

Restless Development Nepal staff has been really encouraged by this recent development and have high expectations about where it could lead.

We are the Youth Collective. If you believe in the power of young people, join our movement.
