dance4life is a global campaign uniting young people across 27 countries of the world to tackle HIV and AIDS. Since 2006, Restless Development has been leading dance4life in the UK. Through media, music and dance, we're raising awareness of the global pandemic and encouraging young people to get involved.
We're thrilled to report that we've just received new funding to continue helping young people in the UK take action on HIV and AIDS globally. dance4life was awarded the funding by Y Care International on the basis of its "innovative methods, work with young people experiencing disadvantage or discrimination and excellent value for money".
Through the dance4life programme, we aim to do 3 things:
1. Inspire: Our high energy and interactive schools workshop tour includes personal stories to provide a human face to this difficult national and international issue.
2. Educate: Skills4life workshops educate young people in depth on topics surrounding HIV and AIDS.
3. Celebrate: In November, young people from 27 countries came together through satellite link up to do the dance4life drill in unison. Our event in London involved guest DJs, performers, celebrities, urban music, and most importantly a huge dance floor.
So a huge thank-you goes to Y Care International for their support of this project that's getting young people to Start Dancing; Stop AIDS.
