With the facilitators and participants now back in their homelands, we have received extremely encouraging feedback from the capacity building workshop run with MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation in Tanzania.
The Staying Alive Foundation gives out grants to young people who they believe in – who they trust – and who they are genuinely inspired by. These young people are fighting to conquer HIV/AIDS in their local communities in the most creative and innovative ways.
The eight-day workshop, held in Tanzania in February 2011 ran really smoothly. During the sessions, participants and facilitators covered key topics in Organisational Planning and Strategy, Monitoring and Evaluation, Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships, Finance Management as well as Media and Marketing. With participants from Cameroon, Ghana, South Africa, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Zimbabwe and Botswana, the group enjoined together to share their experiences, intelligence and inspiring stories of change from their countries. They were fully engaged, eager to learn and loved the interactive, practical format of the sessions.
The next Staying Alive Foundation workshop will take place in April 2011 in Kenya.
