It is with great sadness we share the news that Susannah Whitty, a founder Trustee and massive supporter of Restless Development for over 20 years, passed away on Tuesday 26th October.
Susannah had a heart attack and passed away shortly after, in the company of two of her sons, quickly and unexpected. Those who knew Susannah will not be surprised to know that she had just returned from a week of sailing in Greece and before that, three weeks in California. She had great energy until the end.
Susannah will be remembered by many staff and volunteers - she always came to selection days and she supported us in setting up Restless Development in Uganda and then Zambia. Susannah spent as much time with ministers and donors as she did with volunteers; sleeping on the floor of their rural accommodation and walking for miles to events and other work the volunteers were doing. She will be greatly missed and remembered with great affection by us all at Restless Development.
Susannah's funeral was last week, however for those of you who would like to celebrate Susannah's life, her sons are organising a Memorial Service of music and readings on Saturday 4th December at 4pm, at Lancing College in their chapel. You are most welcome.
Her son, Rob is taking the lead in organising it, so for any questions about the memorial please contact him on firstname.lastname@example.org
Our thoughts are with Susannah's friends and family at this sad time.
