"I returned home from Zambia wanting to develop my experience and raise awareness about global development issues, in particular sexual and reproductive health. Restless Development offered me the opportunity to sign up to become a Dance4Life Development Trainer. I was trained to run six skills4life sessions on topics ranging from STIs to Pregnancy and Choices with young people across the UK. I really enjoy empowering young people and providing them with a platform to ask questions and raise awareness, so my role with Dance4Life was perfect!
Working with young people in Zambia, I realised how much more I should be doing at home. I signed up and became a Live Below The Line Champion for Restless Development, living on £1 a day for 5 days to raise awareness about the 1.7 billion people who live in extreme poverty. I led a team of six to take on the challenge, and managed to raise over £800 for the cause.
Following my ICS experience, I managed to secure a paid role at The Prince’s Trust, and I now work for them supporting young people across the UK to gain access to training, education and volunteering opportunities. The actions I was able to get involved with as part of my Action at Home with Restless Development really supported my career development, and built my capacity to work with young people."
