Youth Partnership in Development Process (YPDP)

The major focus of the YPDP programme is to strengthen local and national youth networks and to increase youth engagement in the national process for sustainable development. This program emphasizes on achieving sustainable, positive youth outcomes in health including reproductive health and rights, education, civic and economic empowerment.

Through YDPD, Restless Development in collaboration with youth initiative conducted Youth Scorecard Survey in 5 districts (Achham, Bajura, Bajhang, Dadeldhura and Baitadi). With 5 domains (Shared Values; Organizational Capacity; Selection, Recruitment, Sustaining Youth Participation; Responsibility and Roles of all Involved and Youth-focus Programming), the survey using scorecard was done to monitor and share valuable information to youth for strengthening their capacity and to provide opportunity to participate in decision-making at local level. Additionally, for the first time, Restless Development, in collaboration with 6 UN agencies, 2 government agencies and 11 youth organization, organized a Futsal tournament to commemorate the International Youth Day and to exhibit the importance of sustainable production and consumption.

Youth Sector Support Programme (YSSP)
Through YSSP, Restless Development works closely with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) to take off Model Youth Information Centers in 5 regions of Nepal. The project intends to strengthen the capacity of both the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and other youth focused organizations in Nepal. The close association ensures National Youth Policy into practice, by encouraging other organizations to do the same.

In 2016, for the first time, Restless Development, in collaboration with Youth Initiative, successfully organised National Youth Symposium on SDGs. The aim of the event was to create a platform for youth to discuss and find a solution to different youth related issues, with the policy makers. Also, Restless Development organized a Boot Camp on Social Accountability in Action - an initiative to equip young people to monitor SDGs. In total, 22 young people from 9 different districts acquired knowledge to hold government accountability, where they expressed their commitment towards achieving SDGs especially Goal 5 in their community. Similarly, “Workshop on Youth Partnership in Sustainable Development Goals”, was conducted by Restless Development, in coordination with Youth Initiative. The consultation workshop on SDGs aimed to identify visions and priorities of the government on engaging young people to localize the SDGs. Through YSSP/Big Idea, Restless Development conducted an orientation in Dolakha, Sunsari, Dhading, Bardiya and Kavre districts to raise awareness on Sustainable Development Goals among youths.

Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation. Empowered, they can be key agents for development and peace. If, however, they are left on society’s margins, all of us will be impoverished. Let us ensure that all young people have every opportunity to participate fully in the lives of their societies. – Kofi Annan
