The Big Idea - Pilot

the big idea pilot countries

Our team has been looking into which countries could be the best place to test an idea like this. To guide our thinking, we developed a tool covering 5 main categories:

  • Governance & Open Data
  • Media & Communications
  • Accountability
  • Youth-led sector
  • Internal considerations

We looked in detail at 15 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, comparing our findings across the different categories. We’re excited to share that we are therefore going to be focusing on Ghana, Nepal and Tanzania in the pilot project implementation.

Since then, we’ve been talking to potential partners in each country and getting their input and ideas on how to make the Big Idea happen on the ground.

From 5th to 7th of March 2014, we have organised a Joint Consultation Workshop in Dar es Salaam, bringing together young people, media, data experts and decision-makers from the three pilot countries to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing and capacity building, while providing space to contribute to the development of country-specific project designs.
